I just don't see this team making any real postseason noise even if we get Jimmy Butler. Butler is yet another finisher like Book and KD who is best with the ball in his hands. He works great on that Miami team with a bunch of rough tough role players who play great defense and buy into a team system. They also have a very good to elite defensive center in Bam. The Miami teem needed a finisher, somebody they can throw the ball to and get them a key basket down the stretch.

This team isn't like that. We're just swapping one hired gun for another, yet another guy who thinks he is "the man." We still won't have much of any athleticism (outside of one rookie), elite defense (outside of one rookie), rebounding, post protection, people who can roll to the basket, guys who can initiate an offense. We can't guard anybody. We let teams trot to the basket over and over for layups, and when we get bored of doing that, we give their best shooters open 3s. And we'll still have a bunch of finishers trying to initiate our offense and then losing the ball when they get double-teamed.

This team is cooked. Jimmy Butler is not the savior.

I'm going to say this again just to counter the contrarian comments. Do not include the 2031.pick. it's not worth it. If Miama insists, then walk. They have no leverage.

I think most of us are in agreement that we shouldn't do the deal if they hold out for the pick. The question is whether Ish has the restraint to say no.

If I were Miami, I would hold out for the pick because, when push comes to trade deadline, I don't think Ish will be able to help himself.

I fear that is spot on. And certainly Miami has no motivation to cave early

I'd trade the pick if it guarantees that they rid tjems of Beal, Nurk, and one of the wings for upgrades.

And when Miami is drafting with our pick in '31, we'll all say, "That's OK. We won a first-round game in '25. Totally worth it."

The present is lost. We must hold onto what few future assets we have left for a potential future when they might actually do us some good.

I’d trade my left testie if it meant we’d be a fun, and consistent team to watch.

We're not even guaranteed to be alive in 2031.

If the goal is just to see us win as many games as possible before we all blow our brains out this summer when the Rockets win the lottery with our ping pong balls, then by all means, trade ‘31 for Butler.

If the team continues to play like that, I GUARANTEEEEEEEE we won't.

Just trade him jeez but I Honestly feel a deal hasn’t been done yet cuz Pat a petty fuck. I generally think we have several decent frameworks that everyone should be happy with but Pat doesn’t want give Jimmy what he wants because it could give off a perception that Jimmy won and be lost. It’s all ego.

I think all these “trash offers” are from every team that isn’t Phoenix. I think Pat looking for any reason to not trade him to here and the moment he gets any decent offer from a team that isn’t phoenix, he’s gone but no one is. So Pat is cool with holding this shit up to last possible moment as a fuck you to Jimmy.

I just don’t see any way they keep him on the team at this point. I think he will ultimately will come to us but he’ll wait until the deadline just in case he don’t have to trade him here but when he does can spin the narrative that he just did what’s best for the team blah blah.

This is like waiting for the Durant trade all over again. It didn't work out so well the first time around.....

Maybe Riley is being petty but it's also in usually in a team's best interest to wait until the last minute to wait for the best offer. Or at least, let the interested parties know "we're trading him by X date, come with your best offers or miss out". I think the trade deadline should be moved up to some time in January anyway to give teams a chance to adjust in-season and get everyone on the same page.

It's not all about a fuck you to Jimmy. Given Ish's history, it seems likely that Pat is holding out for more (i.e., '31) in the expectation that Ish will cave at the trade deadline just like he did for Brooklyn. You don't turn away when you're playing Chicken with Ish.

I’d be very surprised if 2031 isn’t already in the offer…it’s probably going to whoever takes Beal though and that’s not Miami…more likely Miami is holding out for Dunn or to be the team to get the 2031 pick.

Butler has turned into a cancer and if they don't get an offer they like, the trash takes itself out in the summer. In the meantime, let Butler rot away from the team. Riley has nothing to lose. He is too big of a legend and Miami is too attractive of a destination to be scared of the PR hit. Also, his current roster is too mid to go anywhere even with Jimmy so it is in their benefit to move on from him.

Unfortunately, I would be too.

And if '31's already in the offer, Pat should hold out for Dunn.

I guess we'll see. '31 and Dunn is an outrageous price when you are getting 35yo Butler. But then again, Ishbia paid for Durant and Beal, so it wouldn't surprise me.

All eligible future firsts should be on the table. Am I right?! And all future rookies if they perform at a high level. I know how to build a top heavy team. I did it for my fantasy team with the expected success.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.
