I really miss the days of having a dominant point guard paired with a dominant power forward. Who would you say is a dominant power forward in the league today? Banchero? Maybe Gordon?

That's a really good question. It doesn't seem like there are many in recent years. Seems to have shifted to the center position. I guess Giannis is the best I can think of at the moment.

In reality the PF position has changed quite a bit. The great PF’s of the past would almost all be 5s today. Malone, Duncan, KG, Amare…Barkley would still be a 4 and Dirk might still play the 4, but most have become 5s.

KD plays the 4 now, so we do in fact have a dominant PF. LeBron is a 4. Tatum even plays the 4.

I think the old traditional positions have changed. You used to have a 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5…now most teams have switched an extra 3 in place of their 5. 1, 2, 3, 3, 4. In some cases(ours) we add a 2 in place of our 5. 1, 2, 2, 3, 4

He’s mostly played C, but Dallas was going to try and play him at the 4.

I think this is right. The right mix to me seems to be 1, 2, 2/3, 3, 4/5. In terms of, still one primary ballhandler / PG, one or two SGs, one or two SFs/wings, and a big man who's somewhere between a PF and a C. Almost nobody (save last year's Wolves) dares to try to roll out two classic 4/5 men in their starting lineup, and Minny did it because KAT is a finesse player and outside shooter.

It’s funny that we’ve tried everything except bringing Tyus off the bench. Gotta think we’ll never promise a borderline starter they can start ever again.

Do we have actual confirmation that they promised Tyus a starting role when they signed him? It seems like he is still starting despite not being a great fit with the lineup. Are we making good on a back-door condition of his signing for the minimum?

No confirmation, but he mentioned being the starting pg when he signed…I think we clearly promised it to him.

That's the only reason I can think for him continuing to start. He has been bad.

I know there were reports he turned down more money elsewhere to start and showcase himself as a starter on a "contender". I don't know that he would've started on those other teams. NY was one of them and he definitely wouldn't have started there.

But really, every team in the league knows who he is and what he does and they also know our roster is a mess. Can't blame him for all of our problems but he's also getting exposed badly as a starter.
