Whether we played him or not has nothing to do with it. We needed size but traded a big for two more guards.

Re: Suns Trade Nurkic
You make a trade to improve a team…. This didn’t improve us at all AND it costs a first round pick.
Re: Suns Trade Nurkic
I would have rather they just waive Nurkic and save the pick
Re: Suns Trade Nurkic
Really looking forward to Jones spinning this one later: we like our team, chance for a reset after lots of chatter leading up to the deadline, got two players back we like and pick that will be valuable, still have high ambitions for this season - just got to make the playoffs and anything can happen. Sigh. Yawn. Barf.

Yeah I know, it’s sad that it’s not even remotely close, either.

You wanna start the nurk appreciation thread?
Re: Suns Trade Nurkic
Look on the bright side, we have yet another twin brother on our team once again.

I don't honestly see how anyone can defend Jones or this FO for the decisions they've made over the past couple of seasons. Moving Paul to bring in Beal and his NTC has to go down as the pinnacle but the roster construction, coaching appointments and complete disregard for draft picks has been mind boggling in it's ineptitude.
He simply has to go.
He simply has to go.
Re: Suns Trade Nurkic
I’ll walk this back a little bit…it’s a little like it if we just let Martin/Micic walk. Bigger difference is Nurk lost all value on the court and seemed to be a problem in the locker room too. We needed to move him but couldn’t. Thomas was fine as a player still, Sarver was just cheap and we made no attempt to bring in a useful player for him in return…also of course the difference between 2 1sts and 1 1st plus getting a 2nd.

Well the simple answer is Jones isn’t in chargeSunsSince92 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:23 pmI don't honestly see how anyone can defend Jones or this FO for the decisions they've made over the past couple of seasons. So he's in charge when he makes good decisions but not when he makes bad ones? You can't have it both ways.Split T wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:25 pmWell the simple answer is Jones isn’t in chargeSunsSince92 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:23 pmI don't honestly see how anyone can defend Jones or this FO for the decisions they've made over the past couple of seasons. Re: Suns Trade Nurkic
I was gonna respond but it’s not worth it..if you really think this is worse than Sarver, then I don’t know what to tell you.
Re: Suns Trade Nurkic
He traded Ayton, he's forever public enemy number one.

If he isn't making the decisions then what is the point of him being here?SunsSince92 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:28 pmI seem to recall Jones worked for Sarver too. This isn't about Ishbia, it's about Jones and his incompetence.
Re: Suns Trade Nurkic
My point is non of us know who’s actually calling the shots. I think there was a clear shift in front office practice after Ishbia came aboard though…and Bartlestein is above Jones.SunsSince92 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:26 pmSo he's in charge when he makes good decisions but not when he makes bad ones? I’m not trying to credit Jones for certain moves and pass the blame for others. But based on what we knew of Jones before Ishbia, I have my doubts that he’s running the show. He’s certainly going to be the fall guy though.

At the rate we’re going, we’re headed for a Sarver/McDonough/Watson appreciation thread.

Re: Suns Trade Nurkic
Remind me what happened during Jones tenure as GM while Sarver was here? Here I’ll do it for you.SunsSince92 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:28 pmI seem to recall Jones worked for Sarver too. This isn't about Ishbia, it's about Jones and his incompetence.
Monty, the bubble season, CP3, went to the finals, best record in franchise history. Then Ishbia and KD and Beal and Nurk, Vogel, Bud.
Pretty sure every move you have a problem with happened post Ishbia, no?
One exception is passing on Haliburton.

That's fair and I'm not looking to start an argument. I'm just infuriated by some of the moves being made, as it's clear a number of us are. He's been the common denominator throughout although I appreciate none of us truly know who is calling the shots.Split T wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 1:31 pmMy point is non of us know who’s actually calling the shots.
