Dunno what I think about bringing LeBron over. I honestly don't think it will happen, so I'm not to concerned. But here's what I would consider as a fan.
He always rebuilds teams he goes to. He has never won a title in his first season on a new team. Do we have the roster flexibility to make the trades the would push for? Maybe not because of how few young players and picks we have. In any case, we would have to believe that he will be good enough to lead us to a title 2 or 3 years from now, because for sure it would take at least one more summer to settle the roster and coaching situation.
There wouldn’t be much of a need to rebuild this team if he did in fact come over. You’d have 4 of 5 starters…you’d have Grayson and Royce on the bench. Trade 31 and Nurk for a floor stretching big and then just add vet min ring chasers. Not much else you can do.
Doesn't LeBron always brings in a bunch of Klutch guys?
And I don't think that team you are describing is a good team. Seems like the it would have the same chemistry, identity, and play style issues that we had last season.
Does he? Tristan Thompson got paid by being Klutch and playing with LeBron. I guess AD is Klutch. Those are the only two Klutch guys in LA though. Nurk is actually a Klutch client. Oh, Jarred Vanderbilt is Klutch too.
I can’t say if they’ve always been Klutch, but KCP, THT, Troy Brown, Harrell, Lonzo, Lonnie Walker, and Kendrick Nunn are all Klutch guys that the Lakers moved off of while LeBron was here. So he’s clearly not set on acquiring and keeping Klutch guys.
I think the team would definitely be good. What have we been lacking the most? A leader on the court that can run the offense and allow Book and KD to play off ball. I think you’d still have defensive issues obviously, but LeBron does add size and rebounding and lets KD slide to the 3 or gives you a bigger body if you want to play small.
I’d want Beal to come off the bench and start someone who can defend next to Book. Is the team a contender? Yes I think so…they wouldn’t be some overwhelming favorite though. They would have 3 top 15 guys in the league though. You’d have to make it work, but tons of talent there…them playing together in Paris would be nice too.
The defensive issues that you flagged would be too much to overcome in my opinion. A LeBron led team got pumped 4-1 by the Nuggets and we got swept by the Timberwolves. How does putting LeBron with this team allow us to contain either of those teams, let alone the Mavs or Celtics? The leadership and ball handling he'd bring would offset some of the issues we had this year but he barely moves the needle defensively.
You might be right but it’s boat we’re on now and with minimal options this is our best chance to upgrade our team and address two issues…. A team leader and a ball handler. Our issue would be just keeping all of these aging bodies healthy enough to make a championship run.
I also think Bol Bol could have a break out year if we get to keep him. I could see a young guy like him flourishing on the floor with that group around him.

I think some of y'all are watching a different LeBron than I am. I've seen his teams consistently under-perform and his teammates look better playing on other teams. LeBron-ball is the opposite of Steph-ball; any chump can go play in GS and look like a good player while good players look like chumps playing with LeBron. LeBron's teams always struggle with motivation and mental errors. IMO he would exacerbate the issues we already have.

I can’t believe we are arguing about whether it would be good to pick up LeBron James at the minimum. Pretty sure both Jameses end up with the Lakers, but if there’s a chance for us to get him at min we absolutely must.

exactly... especially if we're holding pat with this roster.

What teammates look better on other teams?
What good players look like chumps with LeBron?
What chump looked like a good player in GS? Oubre? Wiseman?
I think we’re definitely watching a different LeBron…I do not see the motivation and mental errors that you do. I just see a lack of talent.

I'm not against it, I just don't necessarily believe it's the best route for us to take. Aside from the defensive issues, you also need to factor in his influence in the locker room. We know he'll seek to undermine Bud if he disagrees with the way in which he / the team are being coached. We know that was an issue last season with Durant/Vogel, imagine what that might look like with LeBron/Durant and Bud if things get a little bumpy.
It just feels like the organisation is looking to make the same mistakes it did last year. Hire a coach and immediately move the goalposts. In Vogels case, we'll hire a defensive coach and then immediately trade away several of our core defensive pieces. In Bud's case, we'll look to bring in the one star in the league who will relegate him to the role of assistant coach (unofficially) as soon as things get rough.

That's the biggest issue for me, keeping aging superstars with a history of recurring injuries healthy enough to mount a serious run. The big 3 played less than 50 games together this year and it showed come the playoffs. This year we'll have a new coach with a new system and may have to plug a 4th superstar into that. When you factor in health it feels like we'd need a perfect storm to win a championship and would have given up our 22nd pick this year for an unplayable Bronny.
I like Bol and hope you are right but that's quite a leap for a guy that couldn't make the rotation for the first half of this season.

I think that’s overblowing LeBron’s locker room influence. I know the narrative around LeBron and his coaches and I think there’s obviously some truth there…but it’s a talking point that’s exaggerated by his haters imo. I think it’s very hard to trust anything you hear about LeBron behind the scenes. Too many people dislike him and will be willing to believe anything negative about him(or positive about him if you’re a fan).

That's fair. We don't know the extent of his influence (positive or negative) but we do know there is some truth to it as you say. Perhaps I'm just more cautious about it due to what we witnessed (or heard) about the locker room dynamics this year.

That’s fair…I just think…how can it get any worse? Haha…this team needs a miracle or 2 to win a title…LeBron at the minimum is a miracle…I guess the 2nd miracle would be everyone playing along.

The Phoenix Suns, one of the NBA's most successful franchises despite never winning a championship, were founded as an expansion team in 1968 and have since become a perennial contender known for their fast-paced, exciting style of play.
Kind of a strange thing to say after our recent 11-year playoff drought.
Yes, the headline refers to “Colangelo Era,” but the text here doesn’t.

Sure, but they still are like 5th or 6th all time in win%…just 1 bad stretch

Yeah, 6th-placers are the ones who make history. Might as well rename ourselves the Phoenix Other.

He didn’t say we are the premier franchise. 6th out of 30 isn’t good?

I read that KD has set up a Tinder profile. Wasn't sure if it was BS or legit so I didn't post it.

It’s no surprise KD and CP3 are low on that vibes list…it’s just a list of who fans like. Fans don’t like either.

Report: The Suns will re-sign Royce O’Neale this offseason
Royce was a solid trade deadline addition to a team that needs some grit.

I saw that headline but wasn't sure what to make of it. They "will" re-sign him? For how much money? Does Royce want to re-sign? What if he wants a huge contract? How definitive is this announcement?
