Why did we trade a (likely high lottery pick) future 1st for three low-quality 1sts? Does anybody actually want these trash "worst of 3" 1st round picks? This feels like a one dollar for three quarters trade to me.

That three is more than two!

Just then, along came old blind Bates
And just 'cause he can't see
He gave me four nickels for my three dimes,
And four is more than three!

And I took the nickels to Hiram Coombs
Down at the seed-feed store,
And the fool gave me five pennies for them,
And five is more than four!

And then I went and showed my dad,
And he got red in the cheeks
And closed his eyes and shook his head--
Too proud of me to speak!
I’m convinced we could trade for Jokic and some of you would find a way to complain about it

I do love me a worst case scenario.

Immune is such a strong word tho. How about “have developed an unhealthy dependency on” in its stead?

Are any of you still feeling confident we’re getting Butler? Hopefully, Ishbia doesn’t become desperate and decides to include Dunn. If Milwaukee not being interested in Beal is indeed true, I can’t imagine any other team out there wanting him. I also wonder if we have some sort of backup plan and what that even is.

I think it probably still happens…but I’m not as confident as before…I’m honestly fine if it doesn’t though. I wouldn’t cave on demands.

Where there's smoke there's usually fire but there are some tough circumstances to work through. Could still be a lot of posturing going on thru the media. I still don't know why teams would be motivated to take Beal on. The Bucks thing never made sense to me. Chicago wants to get rid of Lavine and possibly blow it all up so why would they want Beal?

I still think the Lakers make a lot of sense for Beal on paper and they need to mix it up a bit but doubt there's anything there.

This.

There's no way the Suns will be "out-Dunn" to get Butler.

But if they are, we are moving to Seattle. Go sonics.

Does Beal have to be out going to make the deal? How about a Big Four?! :P

Chicago would do it to get assets…they probably want a lot of assets though. At least 2 1sts, though I think one should come from Milwaukee if they get LaVine

Send Beal back lol
Haha, that's what I was thinking. Not sure whether that even works but I can't imagine he'd turn down the chance to move back to the franchise where he made his name and has a lot of ties.

Is Evan Sidery a credible source? It sure seems like the things that he reports contradict what Gambo and Shams have said. If it isn’t coming from one of them, I have a difficult time seeing any truth behind it.

Here’s my thoughts of how things unfolded…

Phoenix: How about Beal for Butler

Miami: You’re gonna need to offer more than that…also we have zero interest in Beal…non-starter. Find us an alternative.

Phoenix(to Milwaukee): You still interested in Beal?

Milwaukee: What else do we get for helping you out?

Phoenix: A couple 2nds?

Milwaukee: We’re gonna need the 2031 1st at a minimum…and you need to help us dump a salary to get out of the 2nd Apron.

Phoenix(to Detroit): Would you take Pat Connaughton into space for a 2nd round pick?

Detroit: No, 3 2nds minimum.

Phoenix(to Chicago): You want off LaVine, right? We’ll send you Beal, deal?

Chicago: Beal and 2031?

Phoenix(to Utah): Hey give us as many picks as you are willing and 2031 is yours.

Utah: Deal, here’s Cleveland’s 25, 27, and 29.

Phoenix(to Milwaukee): How about Zach Lavine? You interested?

Milwaukee: I’m listening…

Phoenix(to Detroit): How about 2 2nds to take Connaughton?

Detroit: We’ll think about it.

Phoenix(to Chicago): Ok, Beal and a 2029 Cavs 1st for LaVine?

Chicago: Hmm, I think we need more than that…make it 2 1sts and you’ve got a deal.

Phoenix(to Milwaukee): Ok, you can have LaVine, but you need to include a 1st for Chicago…oh and a 2nd for Detroit. We can only give them 1.

Milwaukee: Those are our last two picks.

Phoenix: Well you could just take Beal with a 1st?

Milwaukee: No thanks, we’ll call you back.

Phoenix(To Miami): Ok we’ve got it worked out. We’ll take Butler, you’ll get Middleton and Portis plus a 2027 Cavs 1st.

Miami: Uhh, don’t think we want those guys either. Try again.

I read somewhere that, since we have acquired those three 1sts, it "unlocks" some of our own 1sts in the "even-numbered" years (2026, 2028, 2030) that we would otherwise have been blocked from trading. Can anyone confirm/deny? Do we suddenly have the ability to trade our own 1sts and keep these new "worst of 2-3" ones we acquired from Utah?

Yes. We have a pick in the next 6 drafts, so we can trade either 25/27/29 or 26/28/30…actually we might not be able to trade 30 because we already traded 31, but we can trade 26/28

At the end of the day, we'll need a pick to send out with Nurk.

If there's no Beal/Butler trade we need to just send Beal away. I feel like there's just better chemistry, flow and rotations without Beal in the mix.
That is the main issue. We need to get rid of Beal somehow someway. Unfortunately, no one want to watch him in street clothes collecting 50 Million per year for the next two years after this one. Especially with no ability to trade him unless he likes his new destination. He will not help another team and they will not be able to trade him.

The trade of CP3 for him was regarded as a steal for us. Washington knew what they were doing. However, they traded CP3 for Jordan Poole. Oops that trade may have earned them or at least helped earn them the 1st pick in the June draft. Pure genius by their GM. They also received a lot of draft capital.
This BUD'S for us! - Play fast Play well - Go Suns!

This. I kinda feel the main hold up is Miami right now. The problem for them is so much bullshit has gone down, everything is fucked. Butler’s antics has damaged his trade value and fucked up the locker room to the point that clearly just need to get rid of him. They can talk a big game about keeping him but they really be fuckin stupid to do that. Why do put your whole team thru more of this?? The only team willing willing to engage then is us but Miami price still kinda high.

Listening to Gambo yesterday, he did mention that we have a limit on what we are willing to give up, like he said there’s no way we give up all 3 picks or Dunn in any potential Jimmy deal. My interpretation of that is 2 picks is our max we are willing to give up right now. He also mentioned we have back up plans.

IMO, I think we give it another week, if we don’t make significant progress for Jimmy, we probably will pivot so we still have time before the deadline to make things happen.

We’ll see. Seems like a game of chicken right now to be honest.

I really can’t fathom trading away our 2031 first with no protection on it without having some kind of backup plan in place. I guess I would just hope it would be in the form of a rebuild. Striking out on Butler should result in our front office blowing it up, but I’m certain some of those picks we acquired (if not our own picks in subsequent years) will be going to another team for someone else.

I agree, there's far too much smoke for there not to be a fire. I suspect a lot of this is just posturing from Milwaukee to improve their end of the deal.
